Does any one have information for replacing the screens on the Oval opening windows. I have a 1987 legend 45 and most of the sreens are torn.

Screens for Legend

Your inquiry is most timely. I just got off the phone with Pompanette who sells the Bowmar ports. I needed to purchase some gasket material for my ports. Pompanette's telephone number is: 603-826-5791 You need to gather some information regarding the ports. 1. Outside deminsions of the port width and height of both exterior and interior 2. Plastic or Aluminum 3. If aluminum, are hinges molded or screwed I find them to be very helpfull

I replaced mine.

The screen material is glued to an oval (elliptical) ring. The ring is tucked into a slit in the gasket. Peel back the slit and remove the ring. Buy some fiberglass screening down at the hardware store. Use the ring as a template to cut out the shape and glue it back to the ring. Reinsert it in the gasket and Voila! - good as new.

Thank Goodness

It's really refreshing (and encouraging) to hear a suggestion/solution from someone who doesn't believe that EVERYTHING on a boat HAS to come from a chandelery or marine supply house where adding the word 'marine' automatically quadruples the price (same is true, unfortunately with the word 'aircraft' but the laws are MUCH more restrictive). Good going Paul, maybe someday more people will realize ..... Jerry

I've been doing that for a while...

AND not just screens, most items on a boat are "standard" items available at Home Depot, or whatever...
