My cabin sole has some scratches from a cooler that was not tied down while sailing. What is the best way to cover them up?

Varnish

If it is only the varnish that is scratched then all you need to do is rough up the surrounding varnish a little with steel wool and apply varnish over the scratch and it will be goneIf the scratch is right into the wood then you will need to sand the wood until it is smooth then varnish

Bronze wool may be better

Steel particles will rust if any are left behind. Also, use vacuum and tadk cloth after roughing up.
