Hi!

I was running new lines back from the mast to the cockpit on my 1996 Hunter 376. It appears that one of the sheaves on the Shaefer deck organizer has broken and a second sheave is frozen. Two questions:

1. How are these organizers attached? Are they held in place via the screws visible in the picture or do those screws just hold the sheaves in place? I was hesitant to disassemble things as I had a limited time window and didn't want to find out that disassembly/reassembly required me to re-bed the organizer in the moment.

2. It looks like the sheaves for these organizers are available/sold separately--but I foolishly did not measure before heading back home from the boat. I see that 2" and 2 3/8" are the most common sizes. Does anyone know which size might have been used on a 1996 376?

Thanks!
Doug

I am pretty sure those fasteners screw into, are tapped into an aluminum plate sandwiched in the deck.

Hi Doug,
From looking at the H376 manual, and the deck layout diagram, page 38 and 40…the block you are showing is item #82.

That I think is Schaefer mfg part # 504-30. Further looking at the Schaefer parts list it’s a 2 inch sheave.

….I’ll be at my boat later this week, if you’d like further confirmation I can do a physical measure for you of the deck organizer. Our boat is the ‘97 model, but they’re likely the same part. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dave and Rob!

It sounds like I wont' have to re-bed anything--definitely preferable.

I searched through the forums but, of course, didn't think to look up the part number in the manual....I trust that these are the same part. Assuming you'll have to re-bed the deck cover to re-install don't worry about physically measuring things (unless you have other good reasons to pull the paneling apart). I agree that they are both probably the same, I'll order up a 2" and if worse comes to worse then I can always send it back.

Thank you again!

The deck organizer Is screwed into an aluminum plate encapsulated in the fiberglass. Probably Hunter used 5200 as a sealant which will be hard to unscrew it out. You should be able to replace the sheaves but suggest using another sealant, not 5200

Good to know! Ill try to force them out carefully (if at all possible). Maybe a dab of 4000 to seal things back up!
