I had to remove the aft cabin rear bulkhead in order to repair some water damage. This allowed me to see the under-side of the port aft horn cleat, there were NO NUTS holding it in place!!! 5200 or similar caulking was the only thing holding it. The port bow cleat is also loose so I intend to drill access holes to make sure that there are nuts on the underside of the that, and all other cleats on the boat. Hate the thought of finding one of these ripped out while swinging on the hook.

That may well be the case but...

...Hunter does, with some hardware, glass the backing plate into the hull or deck, then use tapping screws to mount them. It's possible that's the case here; and it's also possible the nuts are missing...

BackStay Plate

I was looking at the backstay plate on my Passage 42. It seems that Hunter installed it with only 1 nut out of 5 or 6 bolts. They did us lots of 5200. It did hold when the Port broke my backstay which says something but you think they would of used nuts on all the bolts.
