The SB8 in my H-27 is getting long in the tooth. Power and speed has dropped (~3kts top speed...not good). I had a new injector installed last year as well as a lot of fiddling with the govenor & throttle setups. Compression is still good. Is this original engine just tired out or is there anything else I can do? Also if I go the replacement route what engine(s) would you reccomend? Many thanks...this is a great forum! Clean bottom & Prop.

Steve: Are you sure that your bottom and prop are clean. This is sometimes the biggest culprit of reduced speed and apparent engine problems. You may want to hire a diver to give your bottom and prop a cleaning to see if this helps.

Re Bottom & Prop

Thanks for the quick reply Steve. I've been thinking about having my prop checked for pitch when I next haul the boat for hull painting. Steve B.
