As a live aboard on a 1999,450 in N.Y. and planning to cruise south and for general use at the present time I have a satilite dish that works great. It controls two seperate receivers but does not work at anchor nor at sail. Ruth loves her T.V.,so when sailing we have to go to a marina at night that is generally off course and they have a resturant so we eat out. So that comes to about 200 bananas and I also have to keep lining up the dish. This isnt too bad occassionally but when we head south I have to have a self aligning dish so we can go ashore once in awhile. They were once 8000 and then 7000. Now I have been checking and some go for 3200 beens for marine type and someone told me I can get an RV type for 1800 which is getting to my budjet. If any of you sailors, even you EDDIE BREEDAN, know of any other source I would like to hear about it.I now have a home style dish for 4 years and have no problems yet and I have been told that soon they are comming out with computers that are use bt satilite incoming and outgoing. I do have a larger dish at dockside that was for direct pc and direct tv, but i still had to be phone conected. So the PC was only one way, incomming no out going. I most sure I would settle for a used one if the price was right.

Satellite Dishes

Starband currently has two way satellite internet...I'm using right now. I understand that DirectPC will have it within a few months if not already. I'm not sure how either system interfaces into a "stabilized antennae" but expect the TV side is fairly easy. Keep in mind that the internet two way also is a transmitter and there are considerations involved in that.

I realize that the computer could not be used while underway, but the TVcan. I had direct PC Duo awhile back but it was not too good so Iswitched to AOL. The signal for T V is acceptable at around 70,but on PC I had to get a signal of 114,that you can only get from a permanent fix like a dock post MCBUBBA720@AOL.COM
