Bavaria 38E Alamitos Bay
Took Island Packers for a day-trip to Santa Rosa Island on Saturday. Passed along the south coast of Santa Cruz Island, then across the Santa Cruz Channel past Skunk Point into Becher's Bay. This is a very wide bay well protected from westerly seas although strong wind can blow into the anchorage. It was warm and not hot; blue sky and sea, calm waters. The beach north of the pier is very nice. Gazing north at the mountains of Santa Barbara County across the deep-blue sea made an idyllic setting. A 35 to 36-ft Jeanneau arrived in early afternoon probably out of Santa Barbara, anchoring just southeast of the pier and staying the afternoon until after we departed at 1515 (pic--Santa Cruz Island in background). Probably a very nice evening there on the hook Saturday night! It does not have to be howling a near gale all of the time, evidently. Returned along the north side of Santa Cruz Island with brief stops at Painted Caves and Prisoners Harbor. Very nice.:waycool:
