In the next few weeks I will be sailing my little 15 ft. Potter to Santa Catalina. Any advice about where to launch the boat, where to park the truck and trailer while I am there, what can I expect with respect to mooring facilities at the island, etc. Any and all information will be appreciated. Thanks guys and gals.

See the link below about mooring at the Island. As far as launching sites, I only know of two in the LA, Long Beach area. One (and the closest to Catalina) is at Cabrillo Beach. This one is just 1 mile from open ocean, and 19 miles to Two Harbors. The other is in Alamitos (sp?) Bay Long Beach. I haven't used this one in several years. It's quite a ways inland. My favorite destination at Catalina is Emerald Bay. Not muh there, just a Boy Scout Camp at the west end of the bay.

There is also a ramp at Marina Del Rey with

overnight parking. Like Mike Emerald Bay is our favorite. Its also a great spot to snorkle if you like. Dick McKee S/V ONE9TEEN

15 footer to the island

Don; Launch at the sailboat ramp near the Marine Stadium in Long Beach. Head for the isthmus, aka Two Harbors, at the island. Rustic, but not totally isolated. There's a bar, a cafe and a store.
