Peggy, I am replacing my sanitation hose. I noticed in an older post (maybe 2001) that you recommended the Sealand Odersafe Plus hose. This website store however does not carry the Sealand but it does carry the Trident. Do you still recommend the Sealand over the Trident? The Sealand is a bit less expensive.

You couldn't find any posts newer than 2001??

I can't find any that old any more!

I did recommend the original SeaLand OdorSafe, but I've never recommended SeaLand OdorSafe Plus. The best saniitation hose on the market today is Trident 101/102 Trident Marine: Sanitation Hose It's a double walled rubber hose, a bit softer and therefore quite a bit easier to work with than the SeaLand hose. The online store here does carry both Trident and SeaLand. http://shop.sailboatowners.com/category.htm?cat=3714 Trident 101 (black) is actually a little less than the others, but there's not enough difference in the prices of any of 'em to matter.

Thanks, one other question. Does the Sealand require an extra fitting at the end to slip over the connector fittings? The hose that I pulled off seemed similar to the photo of the Sealand and had a rubber on both ends to make the connection. It looks like the Trident can fit over the fittings without that extra piece. Am I correct.

Oh by the way here is your post from 2001. I had Googled MPI sanitation hoses and it came right up.

Lawrence and MPI brand hoses are the least odor resistant of sanitation hoses. The only sanitation hose I recommend is SeaLand "OdorSafe" brand hose. Although it's considerably more expensive than other other hoses, it's so resistant to odor permeation that I've yet to hear of a single case of odor permeation failure in the 7-8 years it's been on the market, whereas most hoses--black or white--permeate in 2-5 years...sometimes within months. If you can't find it locally, give Sealand a call at 800-321-9886.

I am one of those who took Peggy's recommendation to use Sealand hose. This was back in 2000 I think, before the Trident option. There are no special ends on any of the hoses. I did NOT heed Peggy's advice to not heat the hose. I used a heat gun after several attempts with soaps and hair dryers.
