Would like to understand the availability and cost of a 45 ft. liveaboard slip in San Francisco Bay. Does not need to be on SF side only, but commutable to the city. Does anyone know of any prices and marinas available? e mail bruce.hill@infores.com Thanks in advance

A few names....

Bruce, You may have a little trouble finding a liveaboard berth. But here are a few names you could check out: Richmond Marina Bay, Richmond Brickyard Cove Marina, Richmond Fortman Marina, Alameda Grand Marina, Alameda Berkeley Marina, Berkeley Do a web search with Google. You will find lists there, too. Chris

liveaboard in SF

Bruce; You should know that liveaboard slips ANYWHERE on SF bay are like hens teeth. Everyone's heard of them, no one has ever found one. There are lists TEN YEARS long! You might luck out, tho. Check out Latitude38.com. They are the authority on all things sailing in the Bay area.

Suggestions...

There are two Marinas in Emeryville, which is as close as you can get to SF. They both offer liveaboard slips. I don't know any details, though.

Waiting Lists

If anyone tells you there are liveaboard slips available in the Bay Area they are pulling your leg. I'm one of the 100+ liveaboards thrown out of Peninsula Marina this month and all of us have been looking very hard for four months now. Don't waste your time at Grand Marina or Fortman. Marina Bay seems to have some availability but then you have to replumb your boat to meet their requirements. And you have to fight the bridge traffic to get anywhere. All the other waiting lists are years old. Good luck.
