Aren't you glad you didn't have to hobnob...

...with the snobs in LA? Nice story, thanks for sharing it. Looking forward to reading the other stories in it. Jack Hart SEA-YA!

Hi, I am enjoying your daughters account of your trip south. I started it late last night and did not finish yet. She writes well and I'm enjoying your voyage vicariously. It's too late now but I would have skipped LA. (and I am berthed in Marina Del Rey!) and stopped in Catalina Island and grabbed a mooring instead. It is much nicer stopping in Avalon or the Isthmus anyway. MDR has closed hundreds of slips for rebuilding. And even locals are scrambling for a slip and finding them more expensive than in the very recent past. Good luck, and thanks for the post! Regards, Big Joe

Nice post except for calling naval officer a jerk.

Very disrespectful to the people who have a very difficult job to do and who sees any boat as a potential threat post 9/11. I am disappointed you posted it and that you allowed your daughter to say it. Our son would not have been permitted to show such disrespect. Well, it only tells me about the person posting. abe

Abe...

Thanks for the note, no disrespect meant, and Bonnie is amending the blog to remove what could be taken as an offensive remark. Post 9/11 or post USS Cole, it is a much more difficult world that we live in, perhaps in part by our own making but that is a discussion for another forum. Rick
