Salt water sailing to fresh water.

I will be moving from Gulf sailing in Florida to lake sailing North Carolina. If anyone has any information on sailing in Kerr Lake I would like to know if the lake is worth transporting my 1982 H30 and splash her there. Also, what can I expect on taking care of the bottom in fresh water? Currently I have to repaint the bottom every 18 months and have a person clean the bottom every 4 to 5 weeks. What do I need to have done in fresh water? I really do not want to sell my H30 but I would like to ensure I can still enjoy sailing her in an appropriate sailing lake before going through the expense of transporting her there. She is a beauty and in great shape so parting with her would be hard. Your comments are appreciated. Thanks.

Kerr Lake is great :)

It is definitely worth putting your H30 in at Kerr Lake. I recommend Steele Creek Marina. There are many Hunters at this Marina so you will be in good company. The Hunters range from the H240 to H356 at the Marina. There are larger sailboats also. I think a H30 is a good size for this lake. There is year round sailing and many miles of lake to discover. It is about a 25 mile sail from Steele Creek to Clarksville Virginia. The Steele Creek yacht club has some good activities and there is a great bunch of people at the marina. You will even catch Crazy Dave Condon there from time to time making a sale or servicing a Hunter. The bottom paint will last a very long time (3+yrs) and you only have to clean the lake scum off every 6 months or so. I hope to see you there soon.
