Enjoy your new boat! We have a Hunter 29.5 too. We have owned it for 11years and love it.
From what I understand about moving the table up and down is that there is a steel weight inside the mast post with a line that the table is attached to. The weight gets rusty and can’t move inside the post. The weight is to help move the table up a little easier.
What I do is untie the line from the table, have a second person support the end of the table then slightly loosen the clamp that squeezes around the post. Try to control it with the clamp tension. Down is easy but up can be more of a challenge.
Leaks….you need to determine if it is from the seal where the window closes or from around the opening where the window goes thru the hull.
The window in our head leaked from the hull so I removed it and resealed it.
The window in our galley leaked from the seal. I replaced it with an “O-ring” type of material and that worked fine.
Tracking down leaks can be a real challenge. Sometimes leaks originate from a completely unrelated area, and then migrate to where you think its leaking from.
Hope these tips help.
