I guess this is really for 29.5 hunter owners. We have been told and it does appear asthough the table in the salon lowers to the level of the seats. There are wooden lips that make it seem that the table rests there. We are unable to figure this out. Any suggestions.

Lift Up the TAble

I have a 98 H280 and I think it has the same table design. I wondered for about 2 years how to lower the table. The answer is easy. Lift the table off the post, remove the post from the floor, and place the table on the wooden supports. Friction and gravity are all that keep the table on the poost and the postin its holder. Sometimes a twisting motion is needed to remove the metal post from the socket on the sole. Hope this helps. This really is the most comfortable place to sleep on the H280.

What is the problem?

Indeed , the table lowers to the level you mentioned, and there is an (optional) fill-inn mattress , which make a huge and very comfortable berth for 2-4 person. ( It carries me and my wife weight without problem). To bring it back up , you get some help pulling the white rope on the mast post . In my (and others) case this rope doesn't move anything inside anymore , due to inner metal weight being 'stuck' by corossion to inner tube walls. But it can be done , with less easse , by just pulling the table up by hand, with small rotating motions.Make sure the thigtening knob is well thightened , to prevent table moving around in rolling conditions. If I remember correctly , this lowering table plus mattress is an option , not standardly found on all 29.5 's.

Lowering Salon Table

On our 29.5 there is a "T" bolt at the forward end of the table. You just loosen it and the table will slide down the pole. If it does not slide freely lift a little on the aft end. Sometimes it binds on the poll. BE careful it can come down fast and it is hard on fingers an knees. You may have to move the cushions back a bit to get it to sit correctly Also, we untied the counterweight that slides up and down the inside of the pole because we got tired of hearing it banging around on the inside of the pole. On other word of caution. Make sure the table has the leaves up so they don’t collide with the deck or a toe if the table comes down fast
