The salon table in my 1992 H35.5 Legend will not drop down. The table will not budge at all. Does anyone have any hints? Thanks.

Rusted

Your counterbalance inside the mast support has rusted and attached itself. I would use a form of oil to stop the rusting. Linseed oil is sometimes used inside steel tubing aircraft landing gears to control corrosion.

I had my sash removed when the mast was down. It was clanging in the middle of the night. Now I use a 4-to-1 purchase to raise and lower.

Check clamp

Scott, I have to assume that you released the clamp holding tight the table to the mast support...did you? Gene

The counter-balance moves freely...

..and the clamp has been loosened. The table is still solidly stuck in the 'up' position. I will try WD40 around clamp area. When the clamp was removed it did not seem to loosen its hold on post.

If...

..you pull on the line that runs up the front of the pole and it moves, then the counter weight is moving feely. The problem then is the clamp on the pole that secures the table. Instead of trying to move the table up and down, try rotating it. You will have more leverage this way. After you break it loose, wax the entire length of the pole to avoid this in the future. PS to avoid having the counter weight knocking on the inside, drill and tap a hole in the pole just below the table in the normal position. Then thread a thumb screw into the hole to scure the counter weight. To lower the table, just remove the thumb screw.
