Did it used to face the opposite direction? My salon hatch opens facing aft where the v berth opens toward the bow:

yes SC it was facing after before the modification.
many sailboats are built with the middle hatch facing after, the reason is you could keep it open under sail or if it rain... but the result is you always have to close it under sail or if it rain...
now i have breeze inside !
