Does anyone have a good supplier for replacement salon cushion covers? Mine are getting worn and I'd like to find some that are already sized properly - I'm pretty much sewing-machine challenged....

John: There are some posts in the archives that has their phone number. They have the patterns and a nearly unlimited number of coverings. They can also modify their patterns if needed.

Replacement Cushions

I have just had US Yacht Cushion make replacement cushions for my 88 Legend 37. I must say that I would not recommend them for the replacement cushions. I sent them my backing cushions back in December and they were to revocer the backs and make new covers for the seat cushions. They misplaced my back cushions and did not find them until I called and asked the status. They made and recovered the back cushions just find but made the seat cushions to big. They then told me that the old foam had shrunk and that the size they made the replacements were according to the pattern for my boat. So they then asked me to return the seat foam and covers and they were going to fix. After they "sold" me new foam and sent back the seat cushions as originally made and they installed new foam. When they returned the cushions the cushions were, if fact, to big. I also found that they significantly overcharged me the freight on the return by a factor of 4 times. I spoke to the owner and he finally did recut the seat cushions and returned them which they are now "passable". They should be recut again making them smaller. I will not go through the hassle again. If I had to do it again, I would find a good "local" company to do the job and have them measure the boat and fit the covers to your existing foam. Believe me that the possible cost difference of no more than $100 is well worth the expense and hassle.

I had US Yacht make new cushions for our 87 Hunter 31 a year ago and we are very pleased with the results. Understand there can be bad experiences with anything you get at times, but for us...the company was very easy to deal with and delivered a very nice product....also quite a bit less than what other's in the local area here wanted to charge. ...Larry...

Check the yellow pages near home and find a company that does reupholstry. Take them your cushions, they will make new for you using either new foam, or using the current foam if it is in good condition. They have hundreds of fabrics to choose from too. No need for a "marine grade" person.

Cushions - Retort

Larry is right, there are times that things don't go right. US Yacht Cushions did attempt to make things right. And they didn't ask for payment to re-adjust the cushions to make them fit. If I had to do it all over again I still would have gone to a local craftsman for the re-make. They would then have gone out and measured exactly to get the fit just right. According to US Yacht Cushion there was a design change by Hunter mid-year in the production of my boat which resulted in the cushion size change. I still feel that if they had the act together and since they were the vendor who made the cushions (which they were) they would have determine before hand if the my boat was "old" or "new" style.
