I lurked a lot and posted occasionally on the CSBB board under Johhharch. When Phil moved us, I already had a name on SBO, JohnH and JohnH is used often so I asked Phil to change my name to Salish Sea Cruiser. He did so almost instantly, thanks Phil, so I am now Salish Sea Cruiser.

Happy your not lurking John, Salish Sea Cruiser. Perhaps our routes may pass. Will give a toot.

Wow, John! What a beautiful panorama you sail in. It reminds me of the Western coast of Scotland. I never could keep everyone straight on the old CSBB. The avatars with info instantly tell you who is posting. Beautiful boat and coast. Thanks for the photo.

I thought, wow another Alden Challenger on the board, until I made the KC connection. :)

Ayuh, Tom Young was just a fabrication. I mean come on,...Tom Young???

I got stuck using it once and couldn't get "out". I'm trying to figure out who I am, then I'll have Phil fix me up. :)

Just getting my taste of the Salish myself. Now just a matter of getting used to the seasons.

Great to hear and welcome. So your doing this from San Diego? Using a transporter? Tell us all the details...

Nope, I had the boat trucked up to Anacortes, then since the mast was down, I replaced all the standing rigging, lifelines, chainplates and halyards.

So I am in the PNW now... sailing around many many more islands than San Diego ever had.

I do however miss the babes in bikinis on paddle boards.

I was making coffee one morning while anchored in Coronado, when this scene appeared before me.

I know that golf course. Used to race in Glorietta bay back in the late 60's. Snorkeled off the beach retrieving golf balls and selling them back to the golfers. Oh the picture brings back memories. But the bikini's covered a bit more than today.

Seeing them up here on the water is a more rare experience.

Be careful. Do not blink or you might miss it. I think it is a 36 hour period somewhere between July and September.

Gene, did I meet you in Ladysmith a couple of falls ago?
No, I have not gone that far north yet. But perhaps you met one of my old racing partners up there, his name is Dean, thus we may sound the same. We raced on a J-105 team for many years in San Diego. He retired before I did, and moved up here to the PNW. I've only been up here a couple of years, and really have not taken my little boat far yet. (so many islands... GRIN)

I ran into a couple up there Sept. before last on an Orion, so I thought maybe it was you. I've spent 3 or 4 months a year for the last 10+ years in BC between here and the north end of Vancouver Island. I've always meant to go farther, but I just don't seem to pull up the anchor often enough.

Interesting. As I was having the work done in the local yard in Anacortes... three other Orions showed up... they said it was "herd" of them...

Frankly I like that... that the Orions are still hanging in there, and can be a "herd" from time to time.
