Need sails for what looks like a 15 or 17' daysailer. Any used ones out there? What model is this with wood cockpit loaming? Where is serial number or model tag on an Oday like this?

DS I

You have a DS I. They were the only ones with wood coamings. As for sails, Rudy has replacement parts at D and R marine. http://www.drmarine.com/categories.asp?cat=60 The serial numbers in later models were between the two rudder gudgeons on the transom. On earlier models, I understand that they were inside the cuddy. Try the bulkhead area, although I am not certain about this.

years made

From the information I have at hand, the DS I's were made by Oday in 1957 to 72, by Can Am in 1974, by Rebel from 1981 to 83, Spindrift 84-87, Precision 88-90, Mcglaughlin in 91 and 92, Sunfish Laser 94 to 96, and Cape Cod from 1997 to the present. DS I's were not made in 1973 and from 1975 to 1980, nor in 1993. There is a chart available on the daysailer website that indicates this information correlated to sail numbers so that you can id the mfgr. http://www.daysailer.org/tech_hullindex.php
