i purchased a 14.5 or 15 foot open daysailor which seems relatively old but in excellent shape. there was no name of manufacturer on the boat any where and no numbers either. a local sailmaker looked at pictures of the boat and said that based on what appeared to be a dolphin on the main sail he thinks the boat is a dolphin model. im not certain that the picture is of a dolphin. if anyone knows of other manufacturers with a similar likeness to a dolphin on the sail, please let me know. there is also a large red target on the jib and it has a stainless steel rudder and center board. i would also like to know if i can paint the little boat inside and out useing simply an oil based outside paint??? last year i spent $1oo.oo on a boat paint and painted the boat inside and out, but now the boat looks like it did before painting(terrible) and i hate to spend over 10-20 dollars to paint it a second time what do you sailors in the know think. thanks in advance lee

It might be a Tanzer

The Tanzer symbol on a sail looks somewhat like a dolphin, although I am sure there are those that disagree. This is pure speculation on my part and a picture would be very helpful.

Probably a Dolphin Sr.

The Dolphin Sr. is a single-handed, lateen-rigged centerboard boat, 14 feet in length. If this sounds like your boat, check out this site. http://www.dolphinsailboats.com Troy
