I am new to the Dallas/Ft Worth area and looking for a sailing club or group. Is there a Hunter group? Is anyone interested in starting one? Thanks, Dean sv Chateau de Vent

Hunters in N. Texas

Dean, there are a lot of us Hunter owners up at Cedar Mills Marina on Lake Texhoma. There is also a group on Lake Lewisville, if they aren't high and dry. Welcome to N. Texas and year round sailing. Well, July and August are sometimes a little difficult.

Sailing N. Texas

I also have a Hunter on Lake Texoma- at Grandpappy Point. I tried to get a slip on Cedar Mills, but there were none available. Lots of great sailing lakes in north Texas, but- with the droughts- some of them aren't sailable any more (or not always). Like Jim said, Lewisville may be high and dry still. One of the best lakes I found (before Texoma) was Ray Roberts, but they sucked it dry this summer to try to fill Lewisville. Texoma is kind of a long drive from Dallas (>1 hr), but it's worth the trip! Beautiful deep clean lake with lots of places to sail and play.

Sputter!!!!

Dean, Chandlers Landing (my neighborhood) has a 1st class marnia and yacht club on Lake Ray Hubbard. We've got about 6-8 Hunters moored there including mine. Lake's deep and fairly free from the lake level problems of other local lakes. We're just east of Dallas In Rockwall on I30. About 30-40 min from downtown Dallas. If you haven't bought yet, give Chandlers a look! It's pretty cool to walk to your slip and the prices are compariable with any in Dallas without your own lake :). If you're interested Email me. Harry -

Harry, My fees aren't to bad really. At Chandler's On Ray Hubbard, I pay About $1500/yr. This includes on-site security, utilities, Boat lift, mast tower etc. At Grandpappy's on Texoma we pay about the same for comperable services. Both are 30-35 ft slips. I don't know about others in the area. We didn't really price shop. Greg

Bay View Marina

Don't overlook Bayview Marina in Lake Ray Hubbard! Newest and we think the best on the lake! You'll pass it on the way to look at Chandlers Landing. Charles Duhon S/V Artistry

I admit Bay View Rocks A bit. (Not literially)

We go there for dinner when we can't face another night of "culture" at Chandlers. ;-) My daughter loves the place.
