My 1994 Hunter 26 did not come with a bimini. Thinking of buying one from this site. Can I sail with the bimini deployed?:confused:

I set my up in the beginning of the season and leave deployed till the fall. Have not had any issues with it up yet but would be interested in hearing from others as well.

I am concerned about the purchase, the block and tackle running from the deck to the boom. Does the bimini get in the way?

If your mainsheet is at the helm the bimini has to be built so it doesn't conflict with it. That could mean a smaller bimini, or moving the mainsheet.

Hi Knot Flying,

On your boat, in order to stand under the bimini, it must be behind the boom. This means it is clear of the main sheet. It is a smaller bimini, but still helps.

I sail with my bimini up almost every time I go.

10 years with a Bimini from this site

They probably already have a solution for you boat. Ours is mounted on the stern pulpit railings to keep it behind the boom, end the end of boom main sheet on our boat. They are great to work with, and will guide you through the process.

Knot Flying.

I was involved with the biminis on the Hunter water ballast series originally. There are two designs one for 4' and the other 6' both designed deployed under sail. As they say, it is below the boom and behind the mainsheet. It will come with instructions for easy installation. Phil Herring and Dave Grashong at this site's store have them from the mfg and their pricing and satisfaction to customer service is superb. Suggest that you contact this store site and the 6 footer is my choice anyday if you are allergic to sun.
