Sailing to windward

How does the Hunter 33 go to windward. Is this a good "sailing" boat? Would the 33 make a good boat for the Caribbean.? Jimmcclulng9941@yahoo.com

Windward 33

With a Harken roller furling I can always point right at the 30degree apparent wind mark on my wind meter. If you are talking a 1978-1983 Cherobini design. With all the opening ports on my boat the breezes come right through from all directions. It would be helpful to have some covers over the top hatches when directly in the sun, a bimini, too. I am very satisfied with air movement from within the boat and a bimini that is supported from the rails gives me additional protection from the sun that most do not get when built. I think you will get a great deal of pleasure from this boat wherever you sail it. Steve

I have an 81 h33 and with just a 150% jib I can point 45 degrees. With both my sails up and trimmed nicely I have no problems pointing high, I even have the 4' keel. I have done a bit of sailing on the H33 with the 5'3" keel and they do point better but what do you expect with a deeper keel. Either way both types of keels point better than most boats (cruising) that I have sailed. In my opinion you would be hard pressed to find a better sailing boat at any price.
