looking for someone leaving early june (6-8th) to bimini or grand bahama(or abaco's) to raft up with over. no problem coming back, but would like to follow over. two boats, my hunter 28 and my father's o-day 25 are fully equipped. sailing for last 7 years, but have power boated over to bimini twice in ealy 1990's. never sailed, and would like to make a night crossing. familiar withthe area and waters. proficient with gps operation and have the coordinates for most "hole-up's" in the bahamas. two boats and 9 people would be crossing. appreciate sharing opinions and any help that is given.

I won't be going over in June but for future reference could you share the coordinates of the "hole ups" for future reference. I have never been to Bimini but am planning a trip someday.

Summer Trips!

We've sailed from Miami to Bimini, West End and Cat Cay many times over the past several years. Most recently in our Catalina 320. A few observations that might be of interest ... 1) Plan to compensate for the northward current of the Gulfstream 2) Anticipate very light winds or no wind at all (for several hours) this time of the year, i.e., be prepared to motor if necessary 3) We prefer marinas to anchoring out when visiting these destinations 4) Make any marina reservation well in advance. Have fun!
