For my "Hunter friends" in cold getting colder Northern States this is not intended to appear that I'm gloating or rubbing this in your face but we went on a short 15 mile trip around the Bay in 10knot wind, 80deg, 50% humidity crystal clear blue sky day. It is great to be an American Sailor. It make all the hot damp and stormy days a distant memory Lee Henderson S/V El Sueno

Is this an invitation to us all?

If you're going to gloat, the least you can do is invite a few of us Northerners for a sail! I have to admit I am envious. This Fall in NY was lousy (cold and rain) so the month of October was pretty much a bust. Plus, they drained our lake 12 inches so I couldn't even leave the harbor without hanging three crew members off the port side. I think we're all working hard up here so we can one day migrate to where the weather is always warm and the water won't freeze.

Sure, Come on Down................... For a Visit

If you want to move down here permanant you first must convince someone else to move back north. We were out last night and it was gourgeous clear sky and full of stars. My neighbor and I were ready to stay out all night but after our wives fell asleep we decided to come on back in. They woke up right after we stowed the sails and unloaded all the stuff from the boat. They made dinner so I guess it was a fair exchange. We'll be out next weekend as well so if your in the neighborhood pop on in.

Yup Nov 1 was a tough day

Picture is of a Hunter 54 that belongs to a slip mate. My boat is on the hard and Pierre invited Joan and I out for the afternoon. It was about 80 degs light winds - but who cares ;D Jim S/V Java

Halloween was a tough day too

Sailing in the same general area as Lee and Rick, my wife and I left the Crooked Island anchorage between St Andrews Bay Inlet and St Joseph Bay on H33 Bay horse at first light on the 31st on a warm and perfectly clear Halloween day and sailed northwestward to the Destin inlet and thence across Choctawhatchee Bay to Bluewater on Rocky Bayou arriving just at sundown. (picture) In the early morning a roughly NW heading and a 15 kt E wind produced hull speed and more with my H33 Bay horse surfing and roaring with level dry decks over and before the Gulf of Mexico swells for probably 35 miles. A dying wind forced on the engine for most of the afternoon to guarantee making the Destin inlet before dark. GPS recorded a trip time of 11:35, a distance of 77.2 land miles, an average speed of 6.7mph and a max speed of 9.6mph (surfing no doubt). The instrument got the numbers but not the feel. It was one of those wonder filled days on the water that leave an after glow for days afterward.

You got my vote

I am looking forward to moving down south, ft myers or punta gorda, I love long island the sailing is great here but the season too short ,this year was really short with all the rain, last year I waited to the end of nov and this year I put it away last weekend and here we have great weather. Two more years until I can retire and looking forward to that warm south. nick

For every purpose

there is a time, etc. Those of us who cannot sail year round have to recognize both that as both a good and a bad truth. But thanks for thinking of us. Feel free to post more of those pics, its good remember. Jim Kolstoe, h23 Kara's Boo

...and down on the Texas Coast...

It was in the 80's and breezy for another sunny autumn day in S Texas. But then again almost everyday its breezy, sunny and in the 80's here. Best sailing of the year starts now because the winds are stiffer and the going more exciting. But Shhhhhhhh. We don't want anybody discovering this!

Mike we are taking away your citizenship

Giving away state secrets. my my. Hey it was a great weekend you know where wasn't it. I lost my prop backing off a sand bar and overnighted it....fresh air was moving, no skeeters, and a one hour shower followed by blue skies. Awesome... IJ

Well, see, now I've gone and done it

Damn. Just when I had learned all the words to the Mexican National Anthem and Las Mananitas and get my visa pulled. Forget what I said before. We do have a winter here. It last up to a week.
