we just bought a 1986 model Catalina 25 and are only moderately experienced sailors having owned a 25 Hunter and a 31 Dehler. It has a swing keel that draws 2.5' to 6'. How does this boat handle in open water. what can we expect if we venture into the Texas Gulf of Mexico? What are the pros and cons of this boat. Do you have one? Do you love it or hate it?

It would be rare for anyone to say they hate their boat on these kind of forums. In fact, I haven't heard anyone complain about the boats they have, ever. Ask the ?: what's your favorite boat? and most will say the one they have.
If you want to learn more specifically about your new C25, I recommend you go to the C25 Association website and ask there, without the "do you hate it" part, because they all love their boats and are willing to share information.

OBTW, one fellow sails his on the open Pacific Ocean from Southern California to Mexico in races. It's a great boat.
