I am going to buy a hunter 376. I tried to find out how a hunter 376 sails in rough water and strong winds. More precisely: How sharp is such a hunter sailing on the wind. At this moment I own a 28 footer and I must say that I am impressed about the boat oto stay on, (space-room-light etc) but i don't like her sailingperfommancies in stronger weather. Who can tell me?? Please let me know. My address: Fokke.visser@hetnet.nl

More information

Shoal or deep draft? Full roach main or in mast furling? How much wind is alot? How high do waves have to be to be high. All that said I sail a full roach shallow draft 376 and love her. That said she isn't a heavy boat and she has lots of sail area. Reducing sail area is easy just reef early, earlier than most other boats. Its great to have the extra sail when winds are under 10-15 knots, however you need to be ready to reef between 17-22knots if heading to windward. She isn't a heavy boat and there isn't much you can do about that. Depending a wave height and lenght she can get uncomfortable. Lots of pounding in 4-5' short wave length (3-5 seconds). Try to keep the discussion on the board, more interesting and more cross posts gives you more information. RRegge S/V Allie Kat
