I have a couple pair of topsiders but am looking for a newer, high tech shoe I can request from Santa. I would like comfort with no socks, rapid drying or wicking the water away from my feet, no heel marks, and sticky enough to climb vertical surfaces. Recommendations?

Crocs?

My wife bought them for me, my crew laughed and made fun, but I have to admit -they are comfortable. Good comfort without socks, fast drying, no marks. Climbing vertical walls surfaces?? They aren't THAT sticky, but I didn't find them slippery on deck at all. A few words of caution - make sure they fit well, too big and the slippery will be your feet IN the shoes - wear the heel strap; colors, I have the navy blue, very nautical, I'd suggest staying away from pink, orange, or yellow unless you really like abuse; ruggedness, mine held up all summer, until a game of tennis court dodgeball (don't ask) resulted in tearing out the strap, probably more stress than you'd likely put them through on board. Teva

TEVA makes four versions of an open toe deck shoes and a full deck shoe. I got the "Crewman-the ultimate sailing sandals". They are hard to put for a sandal but they do grip really good. The absolute best alround shoes I have had were the Sperry by New Balance tennis style shoes-they actual lasted in hard court tennis plan AND on deck. But its really hard to beat the "Billfish" Teva shoes can be bought through "Latts & Atts"

Sperry - New Balance

I'll jump in again and second Andy on this. Before the Crocs, that was all I wore. And I wear them while racing when I want something that fits good and snug. Finally, they are my standard off season athletic shoe. T J

Crocs

I like the Crocs too. The Sperry's aggravate my planar facitis (sic) so when it starts acting up I put on the Crocs and it goes away. I've also noticed that when walking around on land if a pebble or something gets in the shoe it'll slip out one of the side slits in just a few steps.

Keens...

best you'll ever wear. They cost a little up front, but become indispensible. Easy to wear, no scuff, fast dry, in/out of the water, and very good fit/wear at least for me. Boater's World carries them here, as does Nordstrom.

Keens are the best around...period

Threw the Sperry's top siders to the side and got some Keen Newport II. Worth the money, just order some Keen Dakota's can't wait to try them.

What something that is not too HOT in warm weather

I see all of these suggestions, but Croc's & Keen's are not the best solution in HOT weather (95-105). The Teva's are fine! Any other suggestions.

Another sandal

Another shoe I found is a sandal. With snow blowin' my sailing is surfin' the net and I stumble across this new shoe from Sperry.

Sailing Shoes - Ordered One

Thanks guys, I ordered a pair of Sebago Wave Extreme shoes. Go figure. I'll let you know how they work out. I am also interested in the Sperry catamaran sandals but it is winter here and I think I'll wait a bit. I got a pair of Crocs a couple months ago but have not tried them on board. I got the Sebago's for the extra support, more warmth than sandals, and stickiness (at least as advertised...I don't know anyone who has a pair). They also look kinda cool...
