Hi, I live in Vancouver bc and I am considering buying a yamaha 30 for sale here. I'd like opinions about doing ocean passages (to hawaii to start) on a yamaha 30. I haven't actually been out sailing on a Y30 yet, but they sure look like well built boats and have a great reputation. I'm concerned about the amount of storage and how tender the hull shape might be. Thanks George

I sailed my 25'between oahu and Lanai through the channel and had a blast do it again first chance I get.

Thanks Everyone for their answers. My thoughts are most inline Rick's: The yamahas are as well designed and built as many boats with famous ocean crossing reputations.

I'm still shopping though. I was very close to buying a y30, then I got a chance to step on board a Y33 and thought that it would be the better way to go. But I haven't come across one for sale yet.

Anyone seen know of a Y33 for sale?
