Sailling Mag Review of ODay 23
After going to 9 magazine shops I finally found the November Sailing Magazine in the West Marine Store. The article is a fair and favorable review of the ODay 23 and basically states that, when originally produced, it was a highly popular and successfull model because it gave boat owners the feel of having a "big boat/cruiser" in a small boat, i.e. the boat has many of the features of a larger boat both in the cabin space and in the deck gear. The article does state that the boat is definitely built for sheltered waters, somewhat difficult to trailer and thus, should do it only to and from the marina, twice a year. Also reported is information about possible deck leaks and delamination, and rudder problems withundersized pintels and gudgeons.Overall, however, the boat is positively reviewed, especially for its keel/cb arrangement which avoids the problems of swing weighted keels.Average resale prices ranges from about $4000 to $5600. Everything mentioned in this website about the boat's pros and cons are also reported in the article, i.e. tenderness, roomy cabin interior, etc.My advice is not to go to crazy trying to find this magazine because the article really does not present any new information about the ODAY23 that I have not seen discussed here.
