Sailing characteristics of 25-II?

Have any of you Yamaha 25 sailors experienced the typical IOR design characteristics of poor control off the wind in a breeze, and broaching when flying a spinnaker? Any other sailing weaknesses or strengths that you could share would be of great value to me as I am scheduled for a sea trial 11/02/06. Is there anything else I should look for, specific to the 25-II, in my inspection/sea trial? Thanks!

broaching

It is better than my other IOR boat, a San Juan 24, which was really quite awful downwind. I haven't broached mine yet but it can get quite rolly. I do find mine has a bit of weather helm when the wind pipes up a bit, but I'm working on that issue. I have a new main which helped, am working now on twist on the main, etc, etc.

Absolutely agree, George

I bought the 25 early this year and now sailing and rebuilding it myself, it is fun. I am planning to install a bowsprit to replace the tradition spinnakor pole system, do you think it work ? Cheers Henry
