I caught that darn thing years and years ago and I am still infected with it!

Anyone else had any issues with this?

Does 5 months of continuously staring out the window over heaping snow drifts at a frozen tarped boat while heaving deep deep sighs count?

Not into it much myself; only spend 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year living on one.

Caught it in 1957, when asked to crew on a 12 foot plywood Penguin cat boat. Now, I only own 5 sailing vessels, so it isn't really fatal;)

Was day-dreaming on the beach watching the boats go by as a 6 year old kid. Started boating around 10, boating by myself when 12, now getting close to 70 and still logging several thousand miles per year ! A bug you say ? My wife says it's more of an obsession, a fixation that would need to be treated. So far the only cure I've found is more and more sailing.

"I've got a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell!"

Oh, wait, that's a different joke...

I have had as long as I can remember. I started at 12 years old and have had it ever since. I sold our last boat last fall, and lasted 7 months and just bought a Catalina 36 Mk 2. The worse or best part is my wife has the same bug and we have both been at it over 50 years now. I am 67 and it has not gone away yet.

Hrm.....maybe next winter we should start a Sailor's Anonymous.

Hello, my name is ____________ and I'm a Sailaholic. I constantly go sailing and when I am not sailing all I do is dream about it.

I've been know to climb under the winter cover on the boat, hold the tiller and make sailing noises.

20 years ago at a family party I noticed a sunfish at the dock and asked to try my hand. Two hours later I made it back to an upset Mrs and rampaging children and a huge smile.

And that's when the fight started!

Fought this disease for 14 years successfully and then was out for a ride on my fully restored Harley (by me) and our first vessel caught my eye. Bikes gone, on 3rd sailboat now, and I want MORE!

I thought that I was the only one to grab the helm in the winter and pretend that I was sailing! LOL.

Heck, sometimes working on the boat in the pre-spring is therapeutic. I will start doing something, be impressed with how the work is going, and then I start day dreaming of the cruise I am planning in the summer.

The Mrs calls that "boat thrall". I've been in its grip for many hours at a time. Very difficult to break free somedays!
