Sailing at last....

Hi All

Just had three days fantastic day sailing in The Solent. Managed to
dry out with the tide and scrapped the world from the keel (YUK) at
10:30 at night in the dark and black, sticky mud! Back hurst, I
smell but at least Southern Comfort is back to her usual speed.
Lovely sunshine, F2/3 on the beam, lots of boats but really enjoyed
myself. Diana Webb joined me for one of the days and treated me to
breakfast at Haslar Marina. I remember why I like sailing so much,
the stress just floats away with each passing mile of water......
Having spent all winter working on another Vega I now see the jobs
that need doing on Southern Comfort but this weekend they all had to
wait whilst I just enjoyed the pleasures of sailing again. I think
that sometimes we miss the point of sailing in trying toa chieve the
perfect boat whilst forgetting the plaesure of sailing (I am the
worst at this!).

At teh end ofMay we will have a Vega getogether in The Solent and
hope up to twenty Vegas will appear, fingers crossed. So all thiose
Solent sailors, get ready, join in and meet all those other Vegas
Sailors. Starting point is Haslar Marina on Friday Night 27th May
2005. The bar will be open and the VAGB will even buy each of you a
drink (but you then all have to buy me one!).

See ya all there..... Steve Birch "Southern Comfort"
