Sailing at anchor

My 310 seems to sail excessively at anchor. I saw several boats in the Bahamas with small sails at the rear of the main boom, which seemed to reduce the sailing. Has anyone tried them. Ray

riding sail

There was a thread on this subject last summer (I think). There were several suggestions but someone sent me detailed instructions on how to make a riding sail they they made and used on a 376. I've been considering making one myself, but haven't gotten around to it yet. Send me an email (thboyd@yahoo.com) and I'll forward you the information.

All Chain Rode

I switched to all chain rode on my 310. Doesn't dance around nearly as much as she used to. Another solution would be to hang a sentinel on your rode or maybe you could try dropping an additional small mushroom type anchor right off the bow (just touching bottom).
