I am thinking about docking my boat on the jersey side, how is it sailing on the river around philly?

CAREFUL

It's considered challenging for inland. Study your charts carefully. There are shallows and shoals and alot of commercial traffic. Still, it's popular with small craft. I'm afraid I don't know many of the stop offs. Hopefully, your draft is on the small side.

Size

What size boat do you have and where do you plan on docking her? Some nice places to visit, anchor or tour. Kept my 34h by Penn's Landing for two years. A lot to do and sailing not to bad. John G s/v Dinnae-KenII

good

I was at piers marina just across from where your plan to go. The only problem I had was the rail road bridge north of th Ben Franklin Bridge, needed to get it opened to go up river. It's 49 ft at high tide. Alot to see and do. I'm now up in Tully Town. Nice cove and a great place to spend the week end. John G S/V Dinnae-Ken II

current

How much does the current affect you. My height is less than 48'. That would really be cutting close. What is the tide range, how much do you draw?

Range

I neglected to mention that I think the tidal range is around 7' but you should verify that yourself.

Still Good

Mike is right. Tdie varies 7 to 8 feet. I draw 4.5 feet. Never had a problem with that. Great winds but you will get chop from passing large ships
