Sailing advice, from SF to Eureka CA islander 24

Howdy, I have little sailing experience and was wondering if anyone thinks i could sail from san francisco to Eureka california without getting killed. if anyone has some advice, please write to me. I am on an islander 24 that currently doesn't have a motor. i figure the people in the goldrush did it without motors. I obviously would wait for good weather. WOuld the boat do okay? thanks, ross

I have not done that trip or plan to. I have heard that it is not a pleasant cruise. PLan on getting wet. Not that the boat can not make it, it is just beating your way up the coast is brutal. Ur heading upwind and up stream. Try asking here there are few folks up in the Northern Pacific area who maybe able to help.
