We have only recently purchased a boat and started sailing. Since we live in a very rural area, shopping is limited. Does anyone know of a catalog or website that sells such things as deck shoes, flags, pennants, life jackets, etc. A friend with a speedboat recommended Overtons, but they're more for speedboats, not for sailing. Thanks in advance.

How about SailNet?

You can find them at the link below. WestMarine also has a web site. http://www.sailnet.com http://www.westmarine.com -- - Jeff

Shopping

I have ordered MANY times from West Marine www.westmarine.com which has an extensive catalog mailorder company. Their prices are competetive, their shipping is prompt, and their return policy is simple. They have an online ADVISOR component that will help you compare different products, and you can call them and talk to a HUMAN (who is actually intelligent) if you have other questions. Also, you might try BoatUS.com, similar, but I haven't ordered as much from them over the past 18 or so years. Good luck. Bubba drbubbae@bellsouth.net

Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestions! I'm sure we'll be able to find what we're looking for.

Shop On-line

A West Marine catalog is a must. That way you can find the product, and it's name. Boat US is funny about just sending you a catalog. They want you to become a member. However, once you've found the product in a catalog, I'd do a search for it on-line to compare prices and dealers. EXAMPLE: I'm shopping for an autopilot for my Mac 26s. Called BoatsUS and West for info and guidance as to mounting hardware. Not much help there. Online, I found Bethel Marine Electronics. Much Better price, and help. What they did not know, they gave me a 1-800 number to makers- that really helped!! Happy Sails to you.
