2nd place after correction. The winner was a Montgomery that crossed the line 1 hour and 20 minutes later. This boat is not mine, I crewed the foredeck. There are camcleats in the cockpit. I am looking for pics of the turning blocks. The owner had a brand new main and 135 genny (mylar w/taffeta backing). On the long drive down, we fabbed up an Amsteel backstay with topping lift eye, the lifelines are Amsteel as well and I sewed the seizings on those. also two small loops to thread thru the aft deck cleats to attach the spinnaker turning blocks. That stuff (Amsteel) is really cool stuff

There was a long distance race one day and then class racing (including Mac's) another day. I did not hear what the outcome was but Im pretty sure it was windy for both races (as well as just about every day I was there which was 9 days and not long enough).

That event really is not about what type of sailboat you brought - just getting out on the water with a bunch of great people in a cool place.. I think the big Tri was over 30 foot..

The first three nights I was there were spent in this cove about 6 miles South of Lake Havasu (Steamboat cove).. I took a bunch of "scan" pictures and tried a little experiment picture page where you have to manually scan the picture to see all of it. These pictures are here..

-I was just kidding about the corsair...

it does look like a great event... quite a change from the steamboat cove pano shot.

what's the bottom like there?
or, what kind of anchor? a grappling hook? -or you really want to use the shoreline?

We had to finish off the two kegs in the picture at Steamboat cove (donated by College Street Brewhouse in Lake Havasu)- didnt want to have to carry all that weight back to Lake Havasu City by boat.. it was a tough job.. I did my part to help out.

Great food also..

Its a muddy bottom in this cove (plenty of other anchor threads to refer to for what works in a muddy bottom). In this picture from Friday night before the most of the boats arrived, Im over around 15 foot of water (the boat on anchor) but lots of the main part of the cove are 30 to 35 feet deep. Not many boats could fit in there on anchor with 5 or 7 times rode. There is a lot of room to pull up to shore if your boat allows and still a fair amount of room to anchor (but not room for mistakes if a lot of boats were to anchor)..

I may not always sail a Hunter 23, but when I do, I sail it at Lake Havasu, Arizona.
