This boat has been anchored or tied up in various places around the bay the last couple weeks. I guess he can use his "auxiliary engine" on his dinghy, too.
When all else fails, bring out the obm. That's what happened to my friend"s boat. Stuck by lightning, his Volvo engine won't start. No wind and drifting backwards. He has to laugh his dinghy with a 2hp obm to move his boat. After that incident another friend and I came up with a fixture to mount our 2.5hp obm our our boat stern for such emergency. When all else fails, bring out the obm.
Ferro-cement, that was my first thought too.
You know, when the ferro-cement hulls first came out, they soon discovered that the more steel you put into the construction, the stronger the cement, until they figured out that an all steel hull makes the strongest ferro-cement boat.
These are both Bruce Roberts designs, New York 46s. There are some similar elements.
You can buy his plans and build your own version. Many of his designs are done in steel.
