Old high tech
Reading Ross's link reminded me of another sailboat of the era . In 1957 Ben Seaborn I think his name is. The designer of the Thunderbird, designed a sloop that is 48' in length with a hollow bronze keel (as a water tank). It has a very small adjustable rudder on the keel, a raised saloon and a reverse shear. It also has roll up boom furling It is probably one of the most beautiful boats I have ever laid eyes on .The owner for about 50 yrs has never restored this boat, he has had it meticulusly? maintained by professionals through out it's life .The boat is named Penelicut (nickname Pink Elephant)after a tribe of natives in the pacific NW I believeSome may call it a fat pig but it is a work of art.He wants to sell it so he can Golf more. I think he is about 98 yrs old.I could be so lucky.
