Sail with the pop-up top up?

I'm a begginer sailer and just bought a 1993 Macgregor 26C ... can anyone tell me if it is possible/advisable to sail with the pop-up top in the up position and the canopy in place? I believe there is enough clearance for the main sail .. but should I be concerned about anything else? Thanks. KP

Not in rough water.

I've sailed with the pop-top up in mild winds. But in strong winds with wind waves, the water will splash into your boat. Other than that, no big deal.
