On the Mariner Website, someone was asking if it was worth adding a window to their main. I have never sailed a boat with a window that I thought was effective. On a heel, the window is located near the foot and sitting on the windward bench I end up looking at the sea just past the leeward wake or the jib covers the window anyhow. Most of them have scratches and wrinkles making only a hazy image possible and that leeward buoy you're drifting towards blend in until it's too late to react by the time you can identify it through the plastic viewport.
Finally, here is a sail window I can embrace. even on the most acute heel, you can even see through the raised gunnel.
What do you think? Would the improved visibility render the current set of sailboat right-of-way rules obsolete?
