I have a 79 Hunter 27. On the mast where you slip the sail clips in there is nothing on the bottom to hold the sail clips in there. Do I need a sailtrack clip or something? I just bought the boat, had a 20 ft. O'Day and there was a cotter pin holding the clips in. Am I missing something? Also I am looking for a swim ladder for it, I have the mount, but no ladder, any suggestions? ( I dont want to drill new holes etc. etc)

A thumb screw sail stop.

Your sail stop must be removable so that you can reef the main. The alternative is drilling the mast and installing a gate that allows the slugs to slide but not to come out. The real problem would be finding the gate to fit your mast so the thumscrew stop would be your best bet.

Make a slot gate cover

It's easy to make a slot gate cover. I used an 1 1/2" x 4" piece of aluminum. I put it in a vice with a piece of pipe. Tapped it with a hammer to give it a roundness to match the mast. Then I cut a piece to fill the gate itself and JB welded it to the cover piece. Works great, the sail slugs slide right by it.
