Here's the sequence of events: Sailing my H26, full sail. No extreme wind (hits). Lowered sails into lazy jacks. Moored for the night. Noticed that sail did not flake properly. Sailed the next day double reefed. Wind laid and raised sail to full and saw four broken slides. Test question: What happened? (Don't look to me for the answer)

Slugs break

Slugs happen. I've had two break in one afternoon, only to replace them and have two more go out six weeks later. Examine them for sheering in the track and replace before they break. Try stainless, for they won't break.

Could be worse

Bill, I would be careful about replacing my plastic slugs with metal. I can replace 16 plastic slugs for less than $10. A new sail would cost me $3000. There is alot of room for inconvience between those numbers. Les s/v Mutual Fun
