I sail a 1985 Catalina 27 #6049. Recently while dropping the main, three of the upppermost sail slides broke leaving part of the slide in the sail track and part still threaded onto the main. Can I replace these threaded-on sail slides without having to take the sail to a sail shop and have new ones sewn on? Can I use the sail slide shackles that attach with a screw?

Bring it to the sail loft

The mainsail is kinda important!

Threaded Slides

My Cat 28 has the threaded-on type of slides. A few of them broke off due to age and I replaced them all with the same kind. As long as you have the necessary grommets in your sail, I don't see why you couldn't switch to the threaded type. Andy
