I need to replace shackles and slugs on the main sail for my Hunter 26. As you can see I have a variety. One was sewn in with the batten material. One uses a plastic tie for a shackle and one uses a plastic shackle that holds the slug at the wrong angle.

I have not seen a shackle in the catalogs that fits un the batten material. Can I order a part or parts to make this right?

Are you looking for slugs that will "snap" onto the web? They must make them but I have never seen one. It would make more sense than having to cut out the webbing and then have to sew it back. Some of the slugs on Sailrite look like they might work. But one, a Ronstan, is over $25.00! Why don't you call and ask: http://search.sailrite.com/?freeText=slug . You need to get those shackles/wire ties off which put a twist and a looseness in the slug.

I would suggest installing grommets through the webbing directly behind the luff rope and install the sail slide and shackle like the one shown in your picture # 4. This would orient the slide in the correct direction and would be easily replaceable as needed without affecting the integrity of the sail.

The shackle in your last pic is used incorrectly. It screws in just behind the bolt rope and doesn't use the sewn in webbing. I have used this approach on a previous sail and they worked great. You'll probably want to remove the webbing to avoid it bunching up around the shackle and slug.
Right here on SBO or elsewhere (your current variety).

Thanks for your comments and suggestions. I decided to send the sail to North Sails in Portland Oregon to have new consistent slides installed.
