I need to replace the sails on my newly purchased '75 Hunter 30. I need any advice on selection for the headsails in terms of what size, etc. that performs the best on this boat as general purpose sails. I don't know much about it but I figure I need a light or normal conditions type sail and a storm jib. Both woul dbe hanked on if this makes a difference. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Use a local sail loft.

Here are your triangle dimensions from "Boat Info" on this website: JIB - I=40' 6 in, J=12' 10 in (I=forestay lngth, J=mast to stem lngth) MAIN - P=34' 1 in, E 11' 5 in See the Related Link for a picture. But verify these numbers with other H30 owners and/or a reputable sail loft. You mention a storm jib. If you sail in a heavy weather area and need a storm jib then you probably want a relatively small and heavy dacron jib, something around eight or more ounces with the I and J dimensions. But if you sail in light weather than something less than six ounces at 135 or 150 percent of the above I and J dimensions. Your sail loft will know.
