Looking for some help. Got caught in a hard wind no warning. 3 motor boats sank two sail boats went over. Before I could get all the sails down the tailing edge seam on my jib riped about two feet. can this be repaired? Where can I send it?

Of course it can

If you are handy and can sew you can repair it yourself. You can send this to many sail lofts but depending on how new your sails are, perhaps send it to "Sail Care" and have them clean it and they will offer a cost to repair before they fix it. They will also re-resin your sail if it needs it. Good luck, Steve P. Sailcare specializes in reconditioning used sails and repairing them when necesary.

Just find a good seamstress (sews clothing, etc)with a heavy duty sewing machine and have her patch the sail or sew it up. I've had it done with several of my smaller sailboats (12' to 24'.)

Sail Care

Yeah, the same thing happened to me, ripped the seam on the leech. I sent it off to sailcare. They did the repair and re-resined my sail. The repair work was top notch, and my sail came back crisp and white as snow, BUT, it was EXPENSIVE! $223.00 In hind sight, I shouldnt have spent so much on such a cheap sail. (The factory Macgregor sails were made as cheap as possible) Next time I'll just patch it up myself, or invest in a new one.
