I got my sail back from Mariner Sails, super happy with the job they did. My question is this, they used small 1" in diameter iron on or self adhesive patches in a couple spots to patch pin holes....looks like they'll work great for what they're doing, but I've scoured the West Marine site and the rest of the web and can't find more of them, I'd like to keep a handfull on the boat in case I spot some more pin holes. Anybody know what I'm talking about or where I could find them? T.I.A. -Will-

Look at Sailrite for sail repair tape

I think that Defender also carries it and posibly West Marine in their catalog. It is pressure sensitive adhesive tape.

you should be able to get this cut into disks, as a tape or in sheets at any sailmaker

A better alternative(s)

Better than the self adhesive "RIPair tape" is to simply get some equivalent material (same weight and weave as the original) and use "flexible 3M 5200" to glue it down. The flex 5200 cures quite fast and is a permanent glue. For large repairs simply purchase or have on hand precut 'dacron sail tape' in either 2, 3 or 4" widths and use that as the 'backing material'. Use masking tape to prevent the 5200 from squeezing out and making a mess of the adjacent areas. I use it for full panel repairs such as when the stitching between panels 'zippers' open. The downside is that if you make a mistake, the repair is NOT removable. The flexible 5200, the sail tape and just about any sail fabric material you desire is available from souces such as www.sailrite.com The stick-on repair tapes 'eventually' come loose if placed in a 'loaded' area of the sail.

Thanks!

Cool deal, thanks for all the responses, I just had like a 12 inch 'zipper' tear and a couple smaller tears where the sail luffs over the safety line fixed and it only cost $50 (really $25 cuz I co-own the boat), but these pin holes worry me because they could be the start of some pretty serious rips, but they're sparse and wide spread in a couple of areas.
