i'm checking-out the sails on my "new" 86 H23. i have the origional main and jib. main should be servicable as a spare but i want to get it reconditioned, repaired, 2 new battons, and basically checked-out and ready to use. jib appears to just be dirty but otherwise in pretty good shape. so....is this stuff i need to learn how to do myself? i suppose i will need to learn how to patch a sail in an emergency. (anyone know of any links to this kind of info?) in the mean time are there any recomendations as to a sailmaker that does this kind of thing? do any sailmakers do this? for all i know thay may not want to mess with old stuff or it may not be cost effective. after this is done i have a new sail from an oday 27 i believe. will a sailmaker size this to my h23? i may not be "optimal" but could it be made usable?

Good choice

I sent mine to Sailcare last winter and was very please with the results for my '88. Just be sure to give them enough time to do the work before the season starts. They get very busy this time of year.

Let us know what the estimate is

I have a '94 23.5 and the sails are in good condition (no rips, tears, or wear spots) I might be able to get by with just having them reconditioned but I'll be curious what they tell you it will cost. The rough estimate on their web site for reconditioning appears to be very reasonable. Let us know how it goes.
